The Meghan Markle for Reitmans Collection You Need This Fall

I think a common goal for most women-on-the-go is to build a closet full of wearable pieces that can seamlessly take them from the “desk to dinner”. We actually wear only 20% of our wardrobe, 80% of the time, so it only makes sense to arm ourselves with classic items that we can shamelessly keep on heavy rotation all season long.

Meghan Markle is legitimately one of the kindest people I know, happens to be a lead characters on one of my favourite TV shows (Suits), and has such amazing personal style, the beauty has teamed up with Reitmans for the second season as a design collaborator on a capsule collection. And the results…quite amazing if I do say so myself! The collection features everything you need for the fall/winter season. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Reflecting Meghan’s personal style, the 5 piece collection consists of cropped pencil pants, white boyfriend-style blouse, a ridiculously gorgeous cashmere blend poncho and what everyone is going to want – a leather pencil skirt that literally hugs every corner of your curves and a super versatile turtleneck bodysuit. And not only are the pieces good quality, the price point is affordable, making the collection attainable for so many.

Based on this look, I am anticipating that the Meghan Markle Fall Collection is legit going to fly off shelves. It will be available both online and in select stores across Canada as of November 3rd, but my friends at Reitmans are graciously giving you exclusive access to pre shop the line. West Coastin’ in Canada Goose’s HyBridge Lite Jacket

Canada Goose HyBridge Lite Jacket

Although insanely beautiful, Vancouver is one of the trickiest destinations to pack for when traveling to it. Being a west coastal seaport city that’s close to the pacific ocean and mountains means that you can easily go through three climate changes in one day, especially if you’re into outdoor living and adventures.

I recently went back to rediscover the city I briefly called home once upon a time and my Canada Goose HyBridge Lite jacket quickly became my favourite accessory on the trip. From scouting photo shoot locations, hiking Grouse Mountain, bike rides in Stanley Park, to long walks on the city’s Seawall, the HyBridge helped me tackle every activity that each came with a different weather element. When I no longer had use for my jacket when the day’s temperature was at it’s highest, the HyBridge brilliantly folds itself into the exterior left hand pocket, making it easy to store in a handbag or backpack.

Nobody can design outerwear for our Canadian landscape quite like Canada Goose. This jacket was carefully constructed for conditions that demand high performance, while still providing the necessary protection from the elements. Taking design cues from the original HyBridge, the Lite version is lighter and more fitted, allowing for a more flattering silhouette. With flexible fabric along the sides and weighing virtually nothing (less than half a pound), it’s the ideal piece for layering, active adventures and for fast packing. Not to mention, awarded “Editors Choice for Best Back Country Jacket” by Outside Magazine.

Staying Dry and Fresh With Dove at Fashion Week

WMCFW Dove Dry Spray

I am often asked questions around which beauty products are the most important in my daily routine or items I can’t live without and people are often stunned when I mention my antiperspirant. Most women would normally call out a cult fave concealer, the season’s “it-colour” lippy or a super hydrating moisturizer – which in actuality are all great too, but with my crazy busy and active lifestyle, I can’t express the importance of having adequate protection from my deodorant.

Dove Dry Spray

WMCFW Dove Dry Spray

I have been given the opportunity to begin testing out Dove’s latest innovation within beauty over the last week  – a dry spray antiperspirant. With a hectic schedule last week with travel, photo shoots and World MasterCard Fashion Week, it couldn’t have been a more opportune time to try out this new way to stay dry. If you attended any of the shows in the tents at David Pecault Square, you probably saw that the brand had set up shop giving out samples to Toronto’s most fashionable to test out at home. Pretty brilliant idea on Dove’s part actually as complaints about deodorant residue are not uncommon in the fashion industry; especially from stylists, editors, models and designers. I flew in just in time to catch the Rudsak Fall/Winter 2015 show with my fashion friends. Known for their drool-worthy outerwear and leather pieces, Rudsak is truly one of my fave Canadian brands and a show I look forward to each season.

Yes, eliminating visible residue is a great bonus for sure but personally I am more concerned with making sure the deodorant I use works with my body chemistry and can provide me with the protection I need to get me through a busy day of meetings, events, workouts at Equinox and runs with my crew. Truth be told, in the past I have stuck to stick deodorants in fear that a spray on antiperspirant would leave behind a sticky or wet feeling, but  Dove’s extensive R&D team have found a way to make this product go on instantly dry when it touches the skin. With a long day of travel and being under stress rushing to the tents for photos, interviews and the show, I was astonished that not only was I kept dry and smelling great the entire day, my black clothing did not reveal a trace of white residue.  For all you other women “on-the-go” like me, you will be happy to know that Dove Dry Spray has been formulated specially to provide us with 48 hour protection and 1/4 moisturizer technology, making sticks and gels a thing of the past.

I am going to continue testing out Dove’s Dry Spray for the next couple of weeks and will be reporting back on my thoughts, so stay tuned. Dove’s four Dry Spray variants; Beauty Finish, Cool Essentials, Revive and Original Scent can be found in most Drug, Food and Mass retailers now across Canada and retails for $5.99. Stepping Into Fall With Transitional Chic Booties

Vince Camuto KlaytonDressing for the transition between seasons can be fun sometimes but seldom easy. Having to make decisions between skirts or pants, light or dark colours, fabric choices and of course footwear. Choosing a pair of shoes can pose as a difficult task because you don’t want to look like that crazed lunatic wearing sandals when it’s cool outside but you also don’t want your feet sweating and swelling in boots if the day turns out to be 27 degrees celsius. My two transitional fashion rules have always been; 1) Leave the house with layers. If you get hot you can alway remove something and on those cool fall evenings you have something to throw on or put over your shoulders to keep you warm and 2) Invest in a pair of stylish shoes that can take you from summer to fall in serious style.

Vince Camuto Klayton Booties

This season I will be swapping my sandals for open toe booties. They’re summery enough to allow me to show off my pedicure, yet still keep me warm on cooler nights.  The versatility of these chic booties from the newly opened Vince Camuto flagship store in Toronto, will definitely mean they will be in high rotation over the next few months.

Vince Camuto is just one of the many international brands that have been gracing Toronto with their presence and to celebrate the brand’s arrival and opening of it’s flagship store in the city, I would like to invite you all to join us for refreshments, music, to view the collection and meet the footwear visionary himself this Friday September 5th… I look forward to seeing you there!

Feminine Floral Footwear

DSW Canada

I’m afraid to admit it, but another Summer is almost over and with that in mind, I will be wearing as many warm weather inspired pieces as possible until Labour Day weekend. Last week I made a special announcement about DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) coming north of the border and opening stores in Canada, which probably excited you hardcore shoe lovers. Last Tuesday, I got the opportunity to check out the gigantic flagship location which houses 20,000 pairs of men and women’s shoes at the brand’s media preview and to say it was shoe heaven is a major understatement!

DSW Canada

I managed to peel myself out of the event without going too crazy (and by crazy I mean departing with 4 pairs of shoes) and these Ivanka Trump floral print pumps had no choice but to come home with me that night. Both the Canadian locations (Mississauga and Newmarket) are open for business now and trust me, you won’t find a footwear selection and savings like DSW’s anywhere else. Plus, so many brands to choose from, there is literally a shoe to satisfy everyone. What can you expect to find inside the footwear mecca? Shoes from Alice + Olivia , Badgley Mischka, Birkenstock, Converse, Diane Von Furstenberg, Timberland, Dr. Martens, Nine West, Lacoste, Nike and much more.

NTC’s Total Body Sculpting Workout ft. Nike Master Trainer Eva Redpath

Nike Training Club

Since the beginning of the year I’ve been talking frequently about my obsession with the Nike Training Club (NTC) program and often wonder how I was living without it before. Although I am extremely fortunate to workout with Canada’s first Nike Master Trainer Eva Redpath weekly here in Toronto, I turn to the app several times a week when I am training on my own. If you are looking for a way to stay motivated, have variety in your workouts and create training programs to help you achieve your goals, then look no further than the NTC+ app, which you can download for free on iTunes. I promise you, it’s like having a trainer…whenever…wherever.

The Total Body Sculpting Workout is one I love to use a lot. Its a 45 minute intense sesh of cardio and fat burning. The best part…it requires very little space and minimal equipment to execute, so it’s perfect when exercising at home or while traveling.  This workout is based on circuit training and is very similar to what I am currently doing with Eva on Thursday mornings. It consists of performing multiple exercises on multiple body parts in a row with little rest in between exercises. Through this style of workout, I’ve gained muscle through resistance training, while also increasing my cardio endurance, which is achieved during the slightly elevated heart rate that is maintained in between sets and throughout the overall program.

How to Begin The Total Body Sculpting Workout

Once you have downloaded the app on your phone or iPad, go through the following steps to locate and begin this workout:

1. Choose “Get Workout” on the home screen

2. Select “Get Lean” on the choose goal screen

3. Choose “Advanced” on the choose level screen

4. Select the “Total Body Sculpting” workout

5. Select the “Review Workout” tab to view each exercise in the series

6. Then hit “Download” and you can start the workout when you are ready

Now although the workout is located in the advanced section of “Get Lean”, please DO NOT get intimated. Many of the exercises within the circuit can be modified to suit your comfort level. You can also chose to not utilize the free weights and medicine ball if you don’t have them at home. Prior to beginning this workout I highly recommend you select the “Review Workout” and understand how to execute each exercise in the series. If you are confused by an exercise, click on it and you will be taken to a step-by-step instruction via images. Need further clarification? There is also an option to watch a short video clip. Your virtual trainer will be sure to motivate you through audio feedback throughout the workout. Best of luck…and remember, the only workout you will regret, is the one you didn’t do!

Weekend Wear | Oxford Shirt + Vintage Denim

Ann Taylor Striped Long Sleeve Shirt

There is something about a classic oxford button shirt that I have always been drawn to. About 7 years ago I begun to see the Olsen twins wearing them in unexpected ways; with leather pants, distressed denim and with vintage shorts and I immediately adopted several for my wardrobe. There are few qualities that help make the perfect oxford shirt in my opinion…1) quality fabric with a tiny bit of stretch for a flattering fit, 2) sleeves long enough to cover my lengthy arms and 3) machine washable – as I already spend enough money at the dry cleaners. All of the above can be found in Ann Taylor’s Striped oxford shirt.

Weekend flower market runs in the city calls for effortlessly chic look. I paired my shirt and vintage Levi’s with Ann Taylor’s nude bow pumps and crossbody bag. Not shown above, but the shirt has a shirttail hem, making it look put together even when it’s worn un-tucked.

Midi Skirts and Crop Tops Are Always A Good Idea

424 Fifth Midi Skirt

My Mother always told me to show off my best assets, which I like to think are my legs, so for years I gravitated to skirts with short hemlines. After seeing the latest skirt trend all over the runway during fashion week I have finally been swayed from mini to midi skirts.

Longer than right-below-the-knee and shorter than a maxi, the versatile midi skirt is ultra ladylike and elegant. Always looking for a way to juxtapose my looks, I balanced this demure skirt from 424 Fifth’s Spring collection with the perfect cotton, long sleeved crop top and leather jacket. The key to keeping this look classy with a crop is to only allow a sliver of skin to be shown between the skirt and the shirt.

Tuxedo Inspired Blazer + Leather | What I’m Wearing

Whitney Eve Blazer

While I’m not usually a huge fan of celeb designers and their collections, I have fallen in love with Whitney Eve’s Spring 2014 collection. Influenced by the Westcoaster’s laid back, chic style, the contemporary collection is full of eclectic flirty separates, exclusive custom prints and even menswear inspired pieces like this sexy blazer with 3/4 length rushed sleeves. Water colours is the clear theme for Eve’s current collection and can be found in shorts, shirts, and dresses – like this gorgeous shift dress I wore a few months back. Although being in between seasons can make it difficult to pull outfits together sometimes, this line has several great transitional pieces that can take you from now until Fall.

Green With Envy | What I’m Wearing

424 Fifth Ponte Dress

If you are still suffering from seasonal blues from what we will forever remember as the longest winter EVER…there is only one thing I can suggest to help bring you out of that funk – wear bright colours! I find that when I do, I have no other choice but to be in a happy mood.  This lime green shift dress from 424 Fifth was a non-negotiable and needed to be added to my wardrobe effective immediately.

As we all know, accessories are supposed to enhance an outfit but I get stopped several times a day every time I leave the house with this bag. I think the beachscape  has women daydreaming of a wanderlust destination and because it’s oversized, you can fit literally every single essential you will need inside to take you from day to night. Loving the beachy vibes? Then you are in luck because 424 Fifth has made this a theme throughout their Spring collection and it can also be found in on a pencil skirt and 3/4 length sleeve topper.
